Target Operating Model Consultant

Target Operating Model Consultants – Banking – Contract

Consultant to Director level | Inside IR35 | London hybrid

We are looking for experienced Target Operating Model and Operating Model Transformation specialists to support a number of major transformation programmes across Banking.

There are opportunities across multiple levels.

These are hands-on consulting roles for people who understand how banks actually operate and can move comfortably from diagnosing the current state through to designing and implementing a future operating model.

The programmes vary in scope but include transformation across relationship management, front-to-back banking operations, organisational design and agile/value-stream operating models.

The work

Depending on your background and level, you could be involved in:

  • Current-state operating model assessment and diagnostic work

  • Designing future-state Target Operating Models across banking functions

  • Mapping capabilities, processes, roles, accountabilities and organisational structures

  • Redesigning front-to-back processes and operating structures

  • Developing operating models around customer and relationship-management functions

  • Applying value-stream and agile principles to operating-model transformation

  • Identifying operational inefficiencies, hand-offs and opportunities for simplification

  • Defining governance, decision rights and ways of working

  • Translating strategic objectives into practical operating-model changes

  • Developing transformation roadmaps and implementation plans

  • Working across business, operations, technology and change teams to ensure the TOM can actually be implemented

  • Facilitating workshops and working directly with senior banking stakeholders

  • Supporting the transition from operating-model design into execution

At the more senior levels, we are particularly interested in people who can own a workstream, shape the approach, challenge senior stakeholders and lead teams through complex operating-model transformation.

What we are looking for

The strongest candidates will combine genuine Target Operating Model expertise with meaningful banking domain knowledge.

Relevant experience could include:

  • Target Operating Model design and implementation

  • Operating Model Transformation

  • Operational Excellence

  • Organisational and capability design

  • Front-to-back transformation

  • Process optimisation and simplification

  • Value-stream design

  • Agile operating models

  • Enterprise architecture and business architecture

  • Transformation roadmap development

  • Large-scale banking transformation

You should have strong experience within Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking and/or Investment Banking and understand the interaction between front, middle and back-office functions.

Previous consulting experience would be highly advantageous. We are particularly interested in people who have worked within major consultancies or have operated in consulting-style transformation roles within banks.

This is not purely a strategy or PowerPoint role. We need people who can get into the detail of how an organisation operates today, design a credible future state and work with stakeholders to make that model executable.
