You’ll play a key role in validating complex data flows while working closely with developers, product teams and technical stakeholders.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality testing across a modern data platform, validating data movement from source through to end-user applications. The role combines traditional functional testing with data validation, integration testing and defect management, helping to ensure reliable, accurate and usable data throughout the platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute test scenarios based on user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Validate data pipelines, integrations and API interactions across multiple services.
  • Perform functional, regression and risk-based testing across applications and datasets.
  • Investigate, log and manage defects, providing clear analysis and reproduction steps.
  • Work collaboratively within an agile team, contributing to planning, refinement and delivery activities.
  • Produce concise test reporting and support successful sprint completion.

Essential

  • Proven commercial experience as a QA Engineer working on data-driven or platform-based solutions.
  • Strong understanding of data pipelines, ETL processes and end-to-end data validation.
  • Experience testing REST APIs and validating structured data formats such as JSON and CSV.
  • Experience working with Azure or another major cloud platform.
  • Comfortable using Jira and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Familiarity with version control and CI/CD practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate complex data issues.

Desirable

  • Experience with Databricks or comparable modern data platforms.
  • Knowledge of geospatial datasets and mapping technologies.
  • Experience working with formats such as GeoPackage and GeoTIFF.
  • Exposure to large-scale cloud data platforms and modern analytics environments.

  • Contract: 6 months
  • IR35 Status: Outside IR35
  • Rate: £350-375p/d
