The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Operational Acceptance Test (OAT) Engineer to take ownership of end-to-end operational testing across cloud-based services. This is a key role ensuring systems are fully validated, resilient, and production-ready before release. You’ll work closely with DevOps, infrastructure, and release teams to guarantee smooth transitions into live environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT) process across the full delivery lifecycle
  • Define and implement OAT strategies, plans, and acceptance criteria
  • Validate system reliability, resilience, failover, and recovery capabilities
  • Collaborate with DevOps and Release teams to support production readiness
  • Conduct cloud-based testing across backup, recovery, and monitoring processes
  • Ensure adherence to SLAs, security standards, and disaster recovery requirements
  • Manage defects, risks, and issues through to resolution
  • Produce reporting on test progress, outcomes, and risk assessments
  • Support and mentor junior team members

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT)
  • Deep understanding of operational readiness areas including monitoring, resilience, backup/recovery, and release management
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins) and test automation
  • Knowledge of AWS and/or Azure cloud environments
  • Experience working within Agile and DevOps environments
  • Solid understanding of Linux, databases, and networking fundamentals
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner
  • Knowledge of containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Relevant certifications (ISTQB, ITIL, AWS/Azure)

The Details

  • Contract Role – 6 months + extensions.
  • Start Date: May
  • Location: Remote but occasional (bi-weekly) site visits
  • Clearance: Ideally SC, but open to those who are eligible
  • Rate: £325p/d – £330p/d
  • IR35: Inside IR35
