Remote-first | Occasional UK travel
SC minimum | DV preferred
We are recruiting an Information Operations SME to support a new defence research and intelligence framework focused on influence, strategic communications, behavioural effect and the information environment.
This is an independent assurance role, reviewing specialist research activity rather than delivering the research directly. You will assess research proposals, methodologies and outputs, challenging assumptions and ensuring work is credible, objective and operationally relevant.
The work will focus on how information, technology, communications and content can shape narratives, behaviours, opinions and decision-making across pre-conflict, conflict and post-conflict scenarios.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide independent technical assurance of Information Operations research outputs
- Review research proposals, methodologies, findings and recommendations
- Assess operational relevance across influence, narrative, audience and behavioural effect work
- Advise on information environment assessment, cognitive effect and audience understanding
- Challenge assumptions, evidence bases and conclusions in a constructive way
- Support assurance of statements of work, milestones and delivery risks
- Review modelling, simulation or wargaming approaches where used to assess actor or nation-state responses
- Produce concise written assessments and recommendations for senior stakeholders
Key Experience
- Strong background in Information Operations, StratCom, intelligence, influence, PsyOps, cyber, OSINT or related defence activity
- Experience working in or around UK defence, national security, military, NATO or allied environments
- Understanding of information activities designed to influence understanding, behaviour, decision-making or cognitive effect
- Ability to review technical, research or analytical outputs and provide clear assurance judgements
- Comfortable challenging senior stakeholders, suppliers and technical teams
- Strong written communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience in modelling and simulation, wargaming, behavioural analytics, AI, data science or social media analysis would be beneficial
- Active SC clearance as a minimum; DV is strongly preferred
