SC Security Architect – AWS

We’re looking for an SC-cleared Security Architect with strong AWS cloud security experience to support a high-profile public sector cloud programme. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you’ll help shape secure cloud solutions, provide practical security guidance to engineering and delivery teams, and ensure risks are identified, communicated and mitigated proportionately.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is confident working closely with cloud, DevOps, platform engineering and application teams to embed security into design, build and live service operations.

What you’ll be doing

  • Designing and reviewing secure AWS cloud architectures across digital services and platform environments
  • Advising delivery, DevOps, engineering and architecture teams on security best practice throughout the development lifecycle
  • Defining and supporting reusable cloud security patterns, guardrails and architecture principles
  • Reviewing technical designs, infrastructure-as-code and deployment approaches from a security perspective
  • Supporting risk assessments, threat modelling and security assurance activity
  • Advising on identity and access management, encryption, network security, logging, monitoring and secure configuration
  • Helping teams evidence security decisions for governance, assurance and architecture review
  • Communicating security risks and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Supporting secure operation of services, including incident, problem and vulnerability management where required

What we’re looking for

  • Active SC clearance
  • Strong AWS security architecture experience
  • Experience working in secure, regulated or public sector environments
  • Good understanding of cloud security controls, patterns and governance
  • Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code and modern engineering practices
  • Experience designing or reviewing solutions across cloud, legacy or hybrid environments
  • Ability to apply structured analysis to real-world security challenges
  • Knowledge of risk methodologies and how to apply them proportionately
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain technical security issues clearly
  • Comfortable working collaboratively across multidisciplinary delivery teams

Nice to have

  • Understanding of Home Office or central government security processes
  • Knowledge of secure cloud platforms, landing zones, guardrails or core cloud services
  • Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, container security or automated security controls
