The Role
We’re supporting a major digital transformation programme and are looking for an experienced Oracle PL/SQL Developer to join a high-performing technical team. This role will focus on the development, optimisation and maintenance of complex database solutions within a large-scale, cloud-hosted environment.
Working as part of an established development and testing function, you’ll play a key role in designing and maintaining Oracle database components, troubleshooting complex issues, and supporting the delivery of critical services across a multi-supplier landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain complex Oracle PL/SQL code, packages, functions and stored procedures.
- Build and manage database change deployments using Liquibase.
- Support the operation and optimisation of Oracle RDBMS environments hosted on AWS infrastructure.
- Collaborate closely with developers, testers and technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues across development and test environments.
- Contribute to database design, performance tuning and ongoing system improvements.
- Support release and deployment activities across multiple environments.
- Participate in technical reviews and provide expertise on Oracle database best practices.
Essential
- Strong commercial experience developing and maintaining complex Oracle PL/SQL solutions.
- Proven ability to write, optimise and support sophisticated stored procedures, packages and database objects.
- Hands-on experience with Liquibase for database version control and deployments.
- Deep understanding of Oracle RDBMS architecture and administration principles.
- Experience working with Oracle databases hosted within AWS or other cloud infrastructure environments.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working within large, complex delivery programmes involving multiple suppliers and stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively within agile development and testing teams.
Desirable
- Experience using JIRA and Confluence.
- Public sector project experience.
- Experience working within Linux development environments.
- Exposure to database performance tuning and optimisation activities.
The Details
- Contract: Initial 6 months + extensions
- IR35 Status: Inside IR35
- Rate: £500-£550 per day
- Location: Predominantly remote with occasional travel if required
