Role overview
We are seeking a Mid-Level Frontend Engineer to support the development of a public sector investment technology system used to manage the distribution of public funds.
The role will focus on UI components, complex grant application forms and accessibility standards within a bespoke grants management platform.
This is a hands-on frontend role suited to someone with strong React-based experience, particularly with Remix or Next.js, and a good understanding of server-side rendering, form complexity and accessible service design.
Key responsibilities
- Building and maintaining UI components for a grants and investment management platform.
- Developing complex grant application forms and user journeys.
- Managing multi-step forms with conditional logic, validation and error handling.
- Building accessible frontend features aligned to WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
- Working with product, design and backend colleagues to deliver usable features.
- Supporting testing, bug fixing and iterative product improvements.
- Contributing to frontend consistency, quality and maintainability.
Essential experience
- Strong frontend development experience with React-based frameworks
- Experience with Remix or Next.js, with understanding beyond standard React usage.
- Good understanding of server-side rendering.
- Experience managing multi-step forms with heavy conditional logic.
- Strong validation and error handling experience.
- Explicit experience building to WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
- Experience with GDS/GOV.UK Frontend or Tailwind CSS, particularly Tailwind Catalyst, would be beneficial.
- Familiarity with Plotly for dashboards or ArcGIS for mapping components would be advantageous.
