Jira Engineer (Contract)

Location: Portsmouth (Light Hybrid)
Contract Length: 3 months
Rate: £475-£500 per day
IR35 Status: Outside IR35

We’re looking for a hands-on Jira Engineer to join a growing programme and take ownership of building and optimising a Jira Service Management (JSM) environment.

This is a delivery-focused contract role where you’ll be responsible for implementing service architecture, configuring Jira to meet business needs, and supporting users across multiple levels.

What you’ll be doing

• Implementing service architecture design plans and building out the Jira Service Management (JSM) environment
• Configuring and optimising Jira Software and JSM instances
• Designing and engineering workflows, automation, and custom schemes
• Testing solutions and iterating based on user feedback and evolving requirements
• Providing end-to-end support across L1-L3, from triage through to complex troubleshooting
• Leveraging the Atlassian plugin ecosystem to extend platform capabilities
• Documenting system changes, creating user guides, and producing performance reports

Essential experience

• Strong Atlassian administration experience (Jira Software & Jira Service Management)
• Proven expertise in workflow engineering and automation
• Experience working with Atlassian add-ons / plugins
• Ability to support across multiple levels (L1-L3)
• Strong documentation and reporting capability
